DRUG AND ALCOHOL PREVENTION PROGRAMS prevent the onset of substance abuse and addiction whenever possible along with helping mitigate its effects on individuals, families, and the community as a whole. In order to achieve this staff performs a full range of high quality and cost effective prevention services tailored to the particular needs of the citizens of Lackawanna and Susquehanna Counties. Our current programs include:
Senior Alert Program: Staff conducts presentations educating the senior adult population on medication storage, monitoring and proper disposal. Target Population: 55 and older.
Prescription Medication Take Back Program: Staff conducts Prescription Medication Take Back Events at Senior Centers, Senior High Rises,community organizations and local pharmacies throughout Lackawanna County.
Evidence Based Curriculum: Staff conducts evidence based curriculum programs including Life Skills Training and Too Good for Drugs program throughout Lackawanna County including local school districts, community agencies and organizations.
Veteran Outreach Initiative: Outreach and educational programs for the Veteran/Military population to address alcohol abuse and prescription drug abuse.
Ongoing Community Education Series: This series covers a range of important addiction issues including binge drinking, prescription drug abuse, the opioid epidemic and addiction and the Family.
